Terms and conditions

The rules of using NextStep UK.

Last updated: 29 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and NextStep UK. By using nextstepuk.org you accept them. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.

Using this service

NextStep UK is free to use. You agree to use it lawfully and not to: disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service; scrape or extract data at scale; upload unlawful, abusive or misleading content; or impersonate anyone else.

Accounts

You must be at least 13 to create an account; the service is designed for 16–21 year olds. Keep your password safe and don't share your account. Tell us at hello@nextstepuk.org if you think someone else has accessed it. You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or puts other users at risk.

Vacancy information

Vacancy listings are sourced from the GOV.UK Find an apprenticeship service via the Department for Education Display Advert API and reflect what was published there when we last checked. We are not the employer or the training provider: we cannot accept applications, change a listing, or answer questions about a specific vacancy. Applications are always completed on the official original source. Closing dates and details can change without notice — always check the original advert before applying.

Vacancy data contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. © Crown copyright.

Career assessment, CVs and guidance

The career assessment, match scores, suggested routes and CV Builder provide information and guidance only. They are not legal, financial or personalised careers advice, and results never limit what you can apply for. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you enter into your CV and for checking it before you send it to an employer.

Third-party services

We link to GOV.UK, employer sites and learning partners such as Feed Study. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or their handling of your data.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you create on NextStep UK, including your CVs. You grant us only the permission needed to store, process and display that content back to you so the service works.

Availability

We aim to keep NextStep UK available and accurate, but it is provided "as is". We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we can't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, and for loss arising from your reliance on guidance, match scores or vacancy information. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell account holders by email.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
